IIANC – NCCCS Partnership Scholarship Block Grant for 2021 – 2022 Academic Year
The North Carolina Community Colleges Foundation is pleased to announce the application process for the 2021-2022 Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina – North Carolina Community College System Partnership Scholarship Block Grants. The initial scholarship funds were contributed by the North Carolina Association of Insurance Agents (NCAIA) in honor of the 50th Anniversary of NCCCS. NCAIA has provided additional scholarship funds each year since 2013. The 2021-2022 academic year scholarship block grant has been awarded to Cape Fear Community College. Eligible students will be awarded individual scholarships.

Eligibility Requirements
Students awarded a scholarship from the block grant funds must:
- Be in good academic standing for the semester in which the course was taken
- Be enrolled in or have completed one of the eligible courses.
- Have successfully completed the course.

Project Skill Up
The Project Skill-Up scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for those adversely affected by the change in the tobacco industry and are seeking to upgrade current job-related skills. It is designed to help first-generation farm impacted individuals and those who are in affected communities who may not be first-generation but are looking to get training in agriculture. This support will allow individuals to gain marketable skills reflective of fast-growing occupations and/or new industries within their local communities.

Students must be enrolled in a program leading to immediate employment. These programs include (but are not limited to):

- Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC)

Golden Leaf Two-Year Scholars Program
The Golden LEAF scholars program will provide grants of up to $1,850 annually for workforce continuing education students. The scholarships help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare, and other components of the total cost of attendance for each of the fall, spring and summer semesters. These programs are 96 hour or more and lead to a credential and/or employment.

Eligibility Requirements
- Resident of North Carolina
- Students enrolled in Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) pathways/courses offered for 96 hours or more and leading to a State or industry-recognized credential. These pathways may consist of a single WCE course or a series of courses.
- You must also be: (1) currently unemployed, (2) have received notification of a pending layoff, (3) working and eligible for the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (FEITC), or (4) working and earning wages at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
- Reside in a rural county that is tobacco dependent, or economically distressed, as determined by the Golden LEAF Foundation. ( Check the Golden LEAF Scholarship page for the list of qualifying counties ).

Bank Of America Scholarship Grant
Economic opportunity is an important step to financial wellness and stability; however, for many in our community who are living in poverty, jobs and education are hard to come by. By partnering with Bank of America, we're providing scholarships to help cover registration and exam fees to eligible community college students pursuing one of the seven eligible workforce training programs listed below, helping to drive economic opportunity for the most vulnerable in our local North Carolina communities.

Robert C. Massengill Scholarship Application
The Cape Fear Electrical Contractors Association, Inc. established the Robert C. Massengill Scholarship Fund at CFCC in 2020 to honor the memory of Robert C. Massengill, an electrical contractor with a long history in the Wilmington area. Selected students in the Electrical Apprenticeship Level 1 course will receive a $600 scholarship to help finance the cost of tools essential to the electrical trade.

GED Scholarships
Is the cost of the official GED exam ($20/test x 4 subject tests = $80) holding you back from taking it? If so, contact your GED-prep instructor for an application and information on qualifying for either a full (all 4 subjects) or partial (one or more subjects) GED exam scholarship.
North Carolina Community College Short-Term Workforce Development (STWD) Grant Program
The Short-Term Workforce Development (STWD) Grant Program, established by Session Law 2021-180, is a state-funded financial aid program for eligible Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) students pursuing high-demand, family-sustaining wage credentials identified as N.C. Workforce Credentials at either the Essential or Career level. These credential pathways may consist of a single WCE course or a series of courses.
